Guillaume Tonelli, NPOA Tennis & Pickleball Director
Guillaume Tonelli returns as our NPOA Tennis & Pickleball director for the 6th consecutive year, and has been instructing at Northstar for the last 14 years. He is a USPTA Professional who focuses on teaching new techniques for both tennis and fitness to improve your game while providing an enjoyable atmosphere. When not up in Northstar, Guillaume is the Head Coach of the Women’s Tennis team at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he will be entering into his 12th season coaching this upcoming summer. Born in Valenciennes, France, Guillaume started his collegiate career in the United States at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas where he won nationals in 2003-2004 and finished second in the following year. He spent his next two years playing for the University of Nevada, Reno and was a two-time Academic All-WAC selection at Nevada. Guillaume graduated from UNR in 2008 with a degree in international business with a minor in economics. He later earned his Master’s degree in business administration in 2011.
Monika Stanikova
Monika, born in Trencin, Slovakia, is a remarkable player and coach. Her love and passion for tennis made her play at the highest level in Europe and help her reach the #2 spot in the nation in Division II at the collegiate level. In 2018, Monika coached at the Rafael Nadal academy, which allowed her to develop her coaching and form relationships with her players, at any playing level. Aside from coaching, Monika is a 3-time Slovakian champion, an ITA All-American recognized player, and received a degree from the Academy of Arts, in San Francisco. Currently, she is the Assistant Coach for the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is also pursuing an MBA at the same time.
Megan Marsot
This is Megan Marsot’s fourth season at Northstar and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back on the team. She moved to Truckee in 2018 and loves being able to live and play up in the mountain atmosphere. She grew up playing competitive tennis in Iowa where she was a 4-time state tournament qualifier. From there, she played tennis collegiately for Quincy University where she was able to graduate in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing. Since graduating, Megan has taught up and down the eastern United States including in Maine, Florida, and New York. Her most recent job was teaching tennis and managing the pro shop at The Meadow Club of Southampton in Southampton, NY. Megan has been professionally certified through the Professional Tennis Registry since 2007 and has experience working with all levels. Her passion is teaching children and beginners and fostering the love for the game.
Monika Magusiak
Monika was born in Bydgoszcz, Poland and came to the United States in 2013 to play for the University of Nevada, Reno. She started gaining coaching experience while spending her summers in Europe. She coached in Barcelona in 2014 and at the Rafael Nadal Academy in 2015. After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in psychology, Monika became a graduate assistant coach for North Park University in Chicago, Illinois, where she obtained her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She goal in the near-future is to become a sports psychologist so that she can help players grow both on and off the court.
